Lid of a jewelry box featuring characters from Joan D. Vinge's The Snow Queen and The Summer Queen.
This is Arienrhod: the manipulative and ruthless Queen of the technology coveting Winter People.
I recently read this series and was entranced. It's one of my new favourites. I recommend to all!

Wow this is great. I love the colours and how they make this piece so livefull. I like the kind of drawing, mostly because it looks like an old drawing.

ACK! *latch* I love The Snow Queen! Someone else in the world has read those books! :D Very nice picture, I like how you incorperate elements from the book like the mers... But isn't she supposed to have white hair?

Glad you like this picture! It's one of my favourites. As for the hair, well, that was a "whoops" on my part. I am used to drawing dark haired ladies, and so, I took a silver marker and made her hair silver like it is supposed to be......unfortunately you can't see that with the scan. ): I'm glad there's another snow queen person on deviantart. I can't find anything on elfwood or anywhere else, and I love the characters from the snow queen. definitely fanart worthy!

Wow. O_O I don't know where you get the patience to do pix like this. You put in lots of colors without it being overwhelming, it's lovely.
