I've been sitting at my desk staring at the stupid compiler a lot lately. I'll get all psyched to code and then I'll have to build something, and half an hour later, when it's done, I'm totally not in the zone anymore. I drew this during several such builds. It's an illustration for Diana Mayer's novel, Evremonde, coloured with some brush pens I found in my office pen jar. Evremonde is a continuation of the story of Tale of Two Cities, and it actually doesn't suck. In fact, it's pretty good. My standards are pretty damn high in the small genre of TOTC fanfic. I think I'm the only person on the planet who has read this novel, but Hey. I liked it, and if you ever read this, Ms. Mayer, and you want to republish your book, I'll edit it for you pro-bono. Oh yeah. And everyone needs to buy Sims 2 Apartment Life. Because it has witches. And my blood and sweat and tears. And because I'll break your legs if you don't.
As a programmer myself, here's my advice: Never ever watch your code compile, on a big project. Compile time equals coffee time. Sipping a hot cup of java instead of waiting anxiously usually lets me get my train of thought right back on track when the time comes.
