The Gorgon's Head

This is a series of photos that I took of a carving on a marble fireplace in a dorm at my university. (My friends must have thought I was a bit odd taking pictures of something as mundane as the gaudy victorian embellishment on the fireplace in their dorm's storage room.) She's really hauntingly beautiful and sad, and really really macabre, when you think that the carving is of the severed head of medusa. I love the way that her expression changes as her head tilts...like a noh mask.
The bottom two photos aren't all that great.
I was having a hard time holding the camera still, but the top one is wonderful.
