Artist's Comments
This was a big embroidery project that I undertook a while ago. It's a whole tablecloth that's embroidered in shades of blue across most of its surface. I borrowed the pattern from an antique teacup and saucer that I found at a junk store. It's covered in detailed little vignettes of "oriental" scenes, and I drew them freehand on the embroidery canvas. I'm still kind of a beginner at embroidery, but I tried to use as many stitches as possible, and I think it turned out really well. I don't know anything about the pattern, but the saucer says "Yokohama" on the bottom, and then Gustafberg (Sweden).
